Family Owned Since 1980 · Licensed, Insured & Bonded
Peterson's Tree Works is a family-owned tree company based in Orange, serving Orange County since 1980.
Orange County isn't one landscape. A canyon lot in Yorba Linda, a Craftsman bungalow in Old Towne Orange and an HOA slope in Mission Viejo each come with different trees, different risks and different rules.
That's why we built a page for each area we serve. Each one covers the trees you're likely to have, the neighborhoods and HOAs we work around, the hillside, wind and fire conditions to plan for, and what the city says about permits, with a link to the city's own page so you can check it yourself.
Our yard is at 605 N Rancho Santiago Blvd in Orange, near the middle of the county. From there our crews and our ISA Certified Arborists handle tree trimming and pruning, tree removal, palm tree service, stump grinding, tree planting, arborist reports and emergency tree service, and we deliver seasoned firewood across the county.
Our home city. Old Towne's historic district, the semi-rural lots of Orange Park Acres and El Modena, and parkway rules that require a city permit.
Orange County's smallest city, with half-acre lots, old citrus, big shade trees and a city tree list that starts with the weeping fig.
Unincorporated hillside neighborhoods like Lemon Heights and Cowan Heights, where county rules and fire-safe pruning both matter.
Hillside homes along Santa Ana Canyon, Scenic Corridor specimen-tree rules for oaks, sycamores and peppers, and Santa Ana wind exposure.
The "City of Trees," from Old Town's mature canopy to the newer streets of Tustin Ranch and Tustin Legacy.
Master-planned villages, HOA landscape standards and the eucalyptus windrows that Irvine protects as significant trees.
The county seat's historic neighborhoods, from French Park to Floral Park, with big ficus, camphor and palm trees.
Large lots and equestrian trails at the edge of Chino Hills State Park, where defensible space is part of tree care.
One of South County's greenest master-planned cities, with HOA slopes, Lake Mission Viejo and a City Forester for public trees.

Controlled removal of dead, hazardous or unwanted trees near homes, pools and fences, with full cleanup. See tree removal.

Across Orange County, a tree in your own backyard usually doesn't need a city permit. The exceptions are what catch people out. Parkway trees between the sidewalk and curb belong to the city in most places. Anaheim protects specimen oaks, sycamores and peppers in its Scenic Corridor. Irvine treats established eucalyptus windrows as significant trees. Orange can require a permit for trees in public view in a historic district like Old Towne. Unincorporated areas such as North Tustin follow county rules instead of a city's.
HOAs add another layer. Many associations have their own tree and landscape standards, approved-vendor requirements and insurance rules, and those can be stricter than the city's. We're licensed, insured and bonded, and we can provide general liability and workers' compensation certificates for your association's vendor file.
When a permit calls for an arborist report, our ISA Certified Arborists can prepare one.
